Audiology Update

Well another 3mths had gone by and it was time for another hearing test. Brooke did fine. What was so strange was that she passed in the right ear this time and failed in the left ear in the sound proof booth.Which was just the opposite 3mths ago. Anyway then they did the OAE test. She responded to high frequency and not the low frequency. This was odd also because high frequency hearing is usually lost before low frequency. The conclusion was in the booth she was probably getting restless and tired therefore not paying any attention when they began testing her left ear. As for the OAE test her tubes were more than likely interfering with the results. All we know is that she can hear and we will continue to monitor her speech and language development. She is saying da-da, ba-ba (for bottle), ma-ma (when she is sleepy or fussy), ga-ga (not sure what that is) and I thought I understood her to say bye-bye the other day. Continue to pray for her. There is still several years ahead of her before we know if she is going to have any hearing loss.

It is very likely her tubes are interfering with the OAE....we see this a lot. Who does she see? The audiologists at Children's?

There is no one in particular. She has seen Stephanie Axtell, Jennifer, Debbie and a few others. I don't remember their last name. We go to Children's South off Acton Rd.

All of the audiologists are wonderful at Children's. She is in very capable hands. If you ever have any questions about her tests, I would be more than happy to help!
